Dr. Tara Martinez is a Board Certified General Surgeon and obtained her medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her surgical residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-SOM. Dr. Martinez completed a fellowship in minimally invasive Colon and Rectal Surgery at the University of Texas, Houston. Her credentialing includes DaVinci Robotic Colon and Rectal procedures as well as minimally invasive surgery for treatment of colon and rectal diseases including single incision laparoscopy.
Dr. Martinez is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons as well as the American College of Osteopathic surgeons. She is on committees for the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, as well as the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. Dr. Martinez has co-authored numerous papers published in peer reviewed journals, and has given numerous talks and presentations at national conventions.
Dr. Martinez’s primary clinical interest is in the field of minimally-invasive, laparoscopic, and open colon and rectal surgery. She specializes in the treatment of Colon and Rectal Cancers, Anal cancers, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and Diverticular Disease. Dr. Martinez also treats anorectal conditions including, fistulas, fissures, hemorrhoids, and rectal prolapse.
